Pet-Friendly Hotel Etiquette

Dog-friendly extended stay hotels still require your pet to be on their best behavior. Become a dog etiquette expert before you arrive to make your stay and your outings to restaurant patios and dog parks seamless. Take steps to help your dog understand beforehand what behavior is expected of them by a brushup on training, reintroducing them to their kennel, and practicing leash manners. Here are some tips for what to bring to your pet-friendly temporary housing and how to help your pet adjust to new surroundings so your stay is a success:

  • Bring your dog’s leash, as they will need to be on a lead in common areas of the property (including the parking lot) and in most public spaces.
  • New places can be scary for dogs, so pack your pet’s favorite treats, blanket, bed, and toys to make them feel comfortable in your suite and prevent nervous barking or unruly behavior (leave the noisiest squeakers at home).
  • Long walks and ample playtime tire dogs out, so expect to spend time at off-leash dog parks for exercise; fresh air breaks help them stay calm and relaxed in the suite.
  • Don’t leave your pet unattended in your suite: Taking them with you is the safest place for them to be—and the most fun, too!
  • Your pooch is expected to be house trained before you arrive, and fees will be assessed if property damage occurs from accidents.
  • Bring your crate or kennel to contain your dog when you can’t watch them closely (like when you’re working remotely from your suite).

Uptown Suites Pet Policies

Here at Uptown Suites, we want every guest to have a delightful stay, and that includes you, your dog, and neighboring guests. Abiding by our rules for our pet-friendly temporary housing is the first step to creating a peaceful, enjoyable living environment for everyone. Dogs are allowed to stay in your suite with you at Uptown Suites, but you must adhere to our pet policies, as follows:

  • Register your pet during your stay.
  • Only one dog is allowed per suite.
  • You will be charged a $20-per-day pet fee, up to $200, during your stay. Should you reach the $200 limit, you will be charged a one-time additional fee of $50 for the remainder of your stay.
  • Dogs must meet size and weight restrictions: No larger than 36 inches long or tall, and under 40 pounds. Please note: Some dog breeds are not allowed.
  • Dogs must not disturb other guests with loud barking or exhibit aggressive behavior.

We can’t wait to host you and your dog for a visit. Find Uptown Suites extended stay hotels in all your favorite cities, and then bring your pet along on any long or short trip. You and your dog will love our comfortable, pet-friendly extended-stay suites and convenient locations near parks and all the things your canine pal loves to do.

Frequently Asked Questions for Pet-Friendly Extended Stay Hotels

Do extended stay hotels allow pets?

Yes: Uptown Suites Extended Stay Hotels happily welcome all service dogs, and also pets who meet the size, weight, breed, and other requirements noted in our pet policy

How much do extended stay hotels charge for pets?

Pet fees at extended stay hotels vary based on the length of your stay and the hotel brand. Here at Uptown Suites, we want guests with pets to stay however long they need, so once your total daily fees reach $200 (10 days), we’ll assess a one-time $50 fee to cover the remainder of the reservation.

Can I leave my dog unattended in a hotel room?

Even when your suite or temporary housing is pet-friendly, you shouldn’t leave your dog unattended. They may become scared in your absence and disturb other guests or destroy property, and they won’t be able to evacuate in case of an emergency.

How do you stay in a hotel with a pet?

To best manage staying in a hotel with a pet, make sure you have all of their favorite toys, their bed, and other creature comforts to help them feel relaxed and comfortable. Review the hotel’s pet policy so you understand what’s expected of your pet prior to booking your stay.

Can I take my cat to a hotel with me?

Check the pet policies before bringing any pet to a hotel. Uptown Suites gladly welcomes most small dogs inside our pet-friendly suites, but owners will need to make other arrangements for cats and other pets.

How do I keep my dog occupied in a hotel room?

Keep your dog busy—and quiet—while staying in a hotel room by giving them a long-lasting chew treat to nibble on, a dog puzzle that takes work to figure out, or offer them a toy stuffed with treats or peanut butter. Tired dogs are easier to occupy in a hotel room, too, so take walks, play and run at the local dog park, and bring them along on every outing to help wear them out.

How long can a dog stay in a hotel?

Uptown Suites welcome dogs for the entire duration of your stay, whether you need pet-friendly temporary housing or you’re taking a weeklong vacation. To make your visit a success, take your pet outdoors for frequent potty breaks and walks to limit the amount of time your dog stays in the suite so they don’t become restless.
