It’s the most wonderful time of year –especially when visiting Denver! The holiday season is right around the corner and what better gift to give than spending Christmas in Denver and enjoying a variety of holiday activities in the area. We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite things to do during the Yuletide season.

Denver Christmas Market

The ever-popular Denver Christmas Market or better known as Denver Christkindl Market is an authentic German Christmas market with vendors, entertainment, delicious food, and more! If you’re spending Christmas in Denver this is certainly one stop you’ll want to make. Here you can experience live orchestral music, German polka, bluegrass, and dance performances. You can also knock out your holiday shopping by purchasing unique artisan gifts like a traditional nutcracker or nesting doll set. Admission into the market is free and hours are as follows: Sunday-Tuesday, from 11 am to 7 pm, Wednesday-Saturday, from 11 am – 9 pm, and extended hours December 17-23, from 11 am – 9 pm.

The Polar Express in Denver

A great activity for those with kids, make their dream of a ride on the magical Polar Express a reality this Christmas! The Colorado Railroad Museum offers tickets aboard this extraordinary ride as the Polar Express story is retold theatrically. Tickets start at $60 and showtimes run at 5, 6:30, and 8 PM throughout November and December.

Downtown Denver Skating Rink

What’s more of a seasonal activity than being bundled up and skating around a frozen rink? This year Downtown Denver Rink celebrates its 10th anniversary and offers free ice skating all week long from November through February. Skate rentals are $7 for kids 12 and under and $9 for adults. View their website for up-to-date hours as they vary throughout the holiday season. Grab your sweetheart or family and get them on the ice to create a wonderful holiday memory in Denver!

The Mile High Tree

Feast your eyes on one of the most popular Denver holiday attractions, the Mile High Tree! The Mile High Tree is one of the largest light installations in the U.S., standing 110 feet tall and 39 feet wide, covered in pixel-mapping light technology. You and your family can enjoy a free light and music show every half-hour on the hour and a half starting at 5 pm, with the last show ending at 10:30 pm.

Christmas Shows & Performances

During this holiday season, Denver offers a wide variety of holiday theatrical, dancing, and musical performances. Tickets to a show can be a perfect Christmas gift or treat for the entire family, here are a few of our favorite must-see-shows in the area:

L’Esprit de Noël Holiday Home Tour

The L’Esprit de Noël Holiday Home tour is probably one of the most unique and memorable holiday activities you can do in Denver. It’s a 2-day tour in University Park featuring 6 extravagant homes decorated to the nines by Denver’s best florists and designers. Tickets range from $28-30 and the tour is offered from November 22-23. All proceeds from ticket sales are donated to the Central City Opera.

Skiing In Denver

While Colorado can be quite beautiful during the spring and summer months, there’s nothing like skiing down the mountains covered in snow and taking in the amazing scenery during the winter. Here are a few great slopes to try that are a short driving distance from Denver:
